Where are wisdom teeth located?
Wisdom teeth are the third to last molars on each side of the upper and lower jaws. They are also the final teeth to erupt; they usually come in when a person is in their late teens or early twenties.
Why are wisdom teeth removed?
Every patient’s case is different, but generally, wisdom teeth are removed due to one of the following reasons:
- Damage to teeth nearby
- Gum disease
- Tooth Decay
If you are getting braces or other dental care, your orthodontist may also recommend removal of wisdom teeth as part of treatment.
Our Oral Surgeons routinely perform extractions of impacted or problematic wisdom teeth, as well as extractions of some permanent teeth to make space in connection with orthodontic treatment. At Sage Dental, our Oral Surgeons perform thousands of wisdom tooth extractions annually. We also provide proper guidance for tooth extraction aftercare to avoid any problems once the procedure is complete.
